Photos that have surfaced online show Uhuru’s son and his sweetheart clad in traditional regalia.
According to Kikuyu traditions, this is called “Ngurario”.
Ngurario is a sort of an engagement ceremony that is meant to announce to the community that the daughter is engaged, provide relatives from both sides with an opportunity to get to know each other and also, to conclude roracio (dowry) discussions.
Uhuru’s son will have a white wedding with his longtime girlfriend next year.
