A village elder has been arrested for allowing a 10 year girl be raped as punishment for her father beating up a drunken neighbor who broke into their home. Indian Authorities arrested the man who ordered the "revenge rape" after the girl’s father lashed out as the 25-year-old man who barged into their house at midnight and tried to molest the man’s wife. The next day the badly beaten neighbor reported him to the village elders in eastern India’s Bokara district and the chief elder "permitted" the rape after deciding her "violent" father had to be punished. The neighbor then dragged the girl, 15 years younger than him, into nearby bushes and raped her as her mother cried out in horror. An hour later the mother managed to find her daughter, lying in a pool of blood, said police. The girl’s molester was also arrested. Other villagers were too frightened to intervene in case they also became targets.
