Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo has been placed under investigation by parliamentary authorities for threatening Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso and "causing damage to Parliamentary property" as she disrupted House proceedings.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi notified MPs that Mrs Millie Odhiambo (Mbita) had "menacingly pointed at the Deputy Speaker" as she protested over Dr Laboso's decision to throw her out.
According to Muturi, the Mbita MP "made threatning utterances" against Laboso's decision to throw out her party colleague, Dr James Nyikal (Seme).
The Deputy Speaker got angry and decided to throw heras well. After being shown the door herself, she got agitated. and menacingly pointed at the Deputy Speaker, claiming she had read the Standing Orders. As she angrily stormed out, the MP broke two chairs and a table. MPs allied to the Opposition's Coalition for Reforms and Democracy protested a remark by Majority Leader Aden Duale.
Duale had said that the Opposition was "speaking the same language as Al-Shabaab" House speaker has said that it was unfortunate hat the MP has not even attempted to apologize.
