After several years of waiting for our 'son' from Kogello, US President Barack Obama has announced plans to open a Young Africa Leaders Initiative center in Kenya by the end of the year. He said Kenya is among four African countries to benefit from $38 million provided by USAid for creation of the centers.
Obama said the center will spearhead the United States investments in
the next generation of Kenyan leaders to augment entrepreneurship and
improve availability and quality of leadership training programmes and
professional development opportunities.
Speaking to more than 500 young African leaders under the initiative
in Washington DC, Obama cited Ghana, Senegal and South
Africa among the African countries where the centers will be created.
Obama said out of the 500 young African leaders, 46 per cent are
Kenyans.
If in deed, the most powerful man on earth visits Kenya, it will be a big honor to the nation after he continuously refused to come here citing bad governance and corruption in Kenya. This would be his first visit to Kenya where his father came from, after clinching power of the world's strongest nation.
