Residents of Mombasa city on Friday morning woke up in shock to find their iconic tusks smeared with red paint.This was done in the dead of the night by unknown people who were trying to pass a message to the notorious Elephant poachers.There were some writing on them that read " Mombasa not for ivory export.'' Some of the residents had mistaken the fresh wet paint for fresh blood,since the region is highly associated with black magic and dark world activities.Some residents still wouldn't come into terms with it as they said the tusks were feeding on human blood.
It took a lot of courage from a few residents to confirm that it was indeed paint and they offered a hand in clearing up the mess.The county government of Mombasa issued a stern warning to those who tampering with the beautification of the coastal city.
