Bahati died at the Nairobi hospital where he has been receiving treatment. He is renowned as a preacher and musician who natured hundreds of youth through his ministry based in Eldoret.
He was heading the Spiritual Life Center in Eldoret and also ran several children's homes where he supported orphans and street children.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago was among those who mourned the death of Bahati terming him as a role model for many people in Eldoret.
"We join his family in mourning the death of the Bishop and pray that God gives them strength to bear the loss," said Mandago.
Church leaders in the region led by Bishop Julius Atsango said they had lost a dedicated colleague.
Eldoret West DC Christopher Wanjau said he was also saddened by the death of the clergyman.
Member of the area County Assembly Rose Kisama also said the death of the Bishop had robbed Eldoret of a church leader who greatly contributed to improving the lives of many people in the region and helping the poor or unfortunate in society.
"He touched the lives of many and it sad that we have lost him," said Kisama adding that Bahati also inspired many through his gospel music.
He praised the last Bishop Bahati as one who also immensely contributed to peace and reconciliation in the region after the 2007/8 post election violence.
