Utterances made by ODM chairman John mbadi during Raila odinga's son burial has landed him in trouble.prominent Jubilee Alliance Senator has asked the police to arrest ODM Chairman, John Mbadi, for addressing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as Your Excellency during the burial of his son, Fidel Odinga, on Saturday.
Speaking at Kiranja Primary School during the burial ceremony of a former Kamiti prison based paramedic, Joseph Mwai, on Monday, Kirinyaga Senator, Daniel Karaba, claimed Mr Mbadi’s statement was an affront on the dignity to the Head of State.
Karaba claimed that the message sent by Mbadi to thousands of mourners present and through the media to the outside world, indicated that the ODM official has no respect for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Senator said addressing Raila Odinga as “Your Excellency the President of the people’s Republic of Kenya” bordered on treason and urged Kenyan authorities to arrest Mbadi and charge him with treason.
According to the Kenya's constitution, treason charges attract a death sentence and Mbadi may be hanged if he is found guilty of the offense.
