University student jailed for insulting President Uhuru

A University student is facing a two year jail term for insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta via social media.

Alan Wadi Okengo alias Liutenant Wadi was charged with insulting the Head of state unprintable words and saying that an ethnic community should be deported.

The 25-year-old was sentenced on Friday after he pleaded guilty to the two charges.

According to the National cohesion and integration act, it is a criminal offense to abuse an ethnic community.

The accused had tried to run away from the country after learning that the police were looking for him but was nabbed at the Busia boarder.
