Apparently, Mzee Ojwang has been living in one of Nairobi’s low end states after they were kicked out of KBC like stray dogs.
According to Mama Kayai, KBC's management told them that they had come of age and their programme was no longer appealing to the masses.
They were ordered to pack and go even after their great service to the station. Their salaries were also withheld and since most actors had no other source of income, they ended up languishing in poverty.
Mzee Ojwang has been ailing for months to a point of becoming partially blind but his former bosses at KBC neglected him. Members of Ojwang's family had gone to seek help from KBC’s management but they were turned away. When they requested for his withheld salary so that they could take him to hospital, they were called all manner of names before being chased away.
If it were not for Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko who came to Ojwang's aid, the legendary actor could now be dead. Up to now, none of his former bosses at KBC has paid him a visit in hospital.
