Although he is now awaiting vetting by MPs and later appointment by the president, Justice Maraga who was seen as an unlikely candidate is on his way to head the top post.

Here’s a few facts you probably did not know about your next CJ.

 1. Religion
He is a staunch Seventh Day Adventist and long serving church elder and is also a member of the Constitutional Review Task Force of the Seventh Day Adventist Church East African Union. So much is he a strong SDA that he told the interviewing panel that he can never preside over a case on a Saturday, his day of worship, no matter what.
