The ceremony which is referred to as ‘Itaara’ in Kikuyu community entails welcoming of the soon to be bride (Ngobi in this case) into the groom’s family. It follows the dowry payment ceremony.
In accordance with traditions, Uhuru’s family hosted their in-laws on Saturday, November 12, at their home at Ichaweri, Gatundu in Kiambu County for the auspicious occasion that saw only card-holders being allowed in.
The party that saw the who’s who in the political circles, public service as well as corporate world attend, also had area residents following the event albeit via a giant screen that was placed outside.
