It has been reported that residents of Nyeri county were divided as far as Gachagua’s leadership was concerned, with some saying they would not vote for anyone related to him in their bid to seek change.
The Nyeri Gubernatorial seat is being eyed by various leaders including area Senator Mutahi Kagwe and current Governor Samuel Wamathai.
Rigathi highlighted the important role Mr Kagwe and Amb. Wamathai played during Governor Gachagua’s time in office by offering him unwavering political support. He, however, refused to be drawn into declaring whom his favourite candidate was, only maintaining that both had what it takes to lead Nyeri county.
“We are confused on who to support to be the next governor of Nyeri. However, we are quite sure that Kagwe and Wamathai who have declared their bid are fully qualified to occupy the office,” he stated.
