Michael Magero Gumo, son of former Westlands lawmaker Fred Gumo has been taken into custody following a court ruling.
The former 2017 Highridge/Parklands Ward Representative aspirant failed to appear in court for a hearing on his reckless driving case on Wednesday. Magero is charged with causing the death of a Nairobi lawyer Victor Kabaka Inyanje on April 13, 2015.
Gumo's son allegedly caused the grisly accident that claimed the lawyer's life while driving dangerously along Waiyaki way.
The accident is said to have caused injuries to four others who were travelling along with the late Kabaka in a Nissan matatu.
After failing to appear in court, Senior Resident Magistrate Faith Mutuku ordered for the politician to be remanded pending a ruling on his warrant of arrest.
The ruling will be delivered on Thursday morning. Magero's first attempt into politics was quashed after he lost to Jubilee candidate Jayendra Virchand Malde.
He garnered 1,378 votes against Jayendra's 8,180 votes
