The Governor was on his way to Nairobi for a radio interview when the accident occurred. Nyeri Senator Ephraim Maina described the Governor as a kind man with a great plan for the county. He stated: "He was a hardworking man who had a good plan for Nyeri County.

He was committed to cleaning the system and it is sad we have lost him. "We thank God for the time we had with him," the Senator added.
