Wajir County Commissioner Naftali Mungathia has said a man who is alleged to be selling Police Uniforms has been arrested by police and is helping the police with investigations.
Military Intelligence officers found numerous police uniforms at the tailor's shop and alerted police officers who immediately got hold of him. Police jungle uniforms as well as regular police uniforms were found at his shop.
The county Commissioner says that they believe that the uniforms are for sale to terrorist insurgents Al-Shabaab and also to clan militia who have been in the recent past involved in inter clan attacks in Wajir and Garrisa.
According to the government administrator three people that were recently killed by police were said to have been in full police attire adding that it is now evident that they must have been supplied by the tailor.
This comes at a time that there has been an increase in Al-Shabaab activities in Nairobi and Mombasa as well as in other places in the larger East African region.
