A senior Al-Shabaab Militant Commander Sheik Mohamed Said Atom on Saturday surrendered to Somali Government authorities. The move is came as the commander renounced violence in Somalia.
Atom has been actively involved with terror activities in the North Eastern fronts of Punt land where he commanded a militia in the mountain region of Galgala for several years. Atom while defecting said that he could not further tolerate the misleading of the terror group.
He further added that he could not support Ahmed Abdi Godane( Al- Shabaab Emir) saying that Al-Shabaab is un-Islamic And Un-Somalia.
He termed the group as a puppet of foreign masters adding that he chose to quit because the group was misleading the youth as well as killing innocent people including Muslim leaders
