Incredible - Kisii Man Invents A P-trap Clay Toilet For Disabled Persons.

Nicholus Ontita, 52  an artist  from Kisii  has invented an affordable P-trap clay toilet to aid  the disabled, the sick and the aged to access pit latrines.Ontita  designed the toilet to help persons with fractures and other disabilities who are unable to use pit latrines or the modern cistern toilets due to their physical condition.

The idea came from his own personal experience when he fell sick and had difficulties squatting. He draws, designs and makes the toilets from moulded and fired clay, which can be adjusted to suit the needs of users in urban and rural areas.

Ontita, , has made 40 toilets and each one costs Sh1,700, including installation. The artist, who has converted most of his two-acre piece of land into an exhibition yard said the toilet combines European and Asian models, noting it is portable and durable and that one needs to handle it with care. The P-trap can be shifted once the pit latrine is filled up.
