Deputy Governor of Machakos County , Bernard Kiala has been impeached through a majority vote in the county assembly. The embattled deputy governor was impeached for failing to have a meaniful working relationship with Governor Alfred Mutua .He was also accused of nepotism and misuse of the office of the deputy governor. Machakos County Assembly on Wednesday debated a report prepared by an ad hoc committee that had been set up to investigate the accusations facing him. Mr Kiala's was impeached with a , 40 out of the 59 vote.
Kiala said that he had expected the outcome adding that the Machakos County government had sponsored the motion. His hopes of being reinstated lies with the Senate.
The deputy governor as evidenced by CCTV cameras deliberately lied about his official cars being withdrawn by governor Mutua and had to involve himself in a drama using a matatu while his colleagues were busy attending to county business. Follow @africanewspost
