Four church robbers shocked a Nairobi court after alleging they were looking for snakes at a church compound. The four had been charged with stealing 50 and a half rolls of barbed wire valued at Sh50,000 from St Mary’s Legio Maria Church in Industrial Area. Francis Makokha, Gabriel Okello, Josphat Muguro and Benerd Olusa are alleged to have committed the offense on August 25. The court also heard that the four are dormant members and manual workers at the church. Police said the suspects went to the compound armed with pangas and crowbars and lit a fire around 7pm while preparing to steal the items. They reportedly lied to security guards in the compound that they were looking for a snake. They were released on Sh10, 000 bail each.
