As indicated by reports, the former president had been experiencing some excruciating pain on his knee.
On Friday, he was admitted to Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi for a minor surgery.
The surgery was to reduce the pain on the knee and was performed under anesthesia.
Moi was later released and is currently recovering at his home.
The 93-year-old former president has rarely been seen in public since leaving office in 2002.
Moi became Kenya’s second president in 1978 after the passing of Jomo Kenyatta and went ahead to govern the nation with a tight clench hand for a long time.
